Position Summary
The Student Front Desk Receptionist is an important part of the front desk team in the CVMBS Office of the Dean. This role is a great opportunity for students to gain real-world experience in a professional office setting while supporting the daily operations of programs in veterinary medicine, biomedical sciences, and environmental health—all with a strong focus on research. Ideal candidates are dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently. You’ll build valuable customer service and administrative skills by greeting visitors, answering phones, helping with office projects and light cleaning.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact at the front desk: answer and route phone calls, resolve basic inquiries, and provide excellent customer service.
- Greet and assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Perform general administrative tasks:
- Sort and distribute mail
- Manage incoming packages
- Use Microsoft products: Outlook, OneNote, Excel and Word
- Light cleaning of shared office and kitchen areas (e.g., trash/recycling, wiping surfaces, cleaning appliances)
- Support small-scale projects and tasks assigned by the Office Manager or CVMBS staff, including:
- Mail merges and document preparation
- Spreadsheet updates and data entry
- Event preparation and support (e.g., envelope stuffing, setup/cleanup)
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold the standards of the Office of the Dean.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled as a student at Colorado State University
- Must be available during the Fall and Spring semesters. Availability during academic breaks and the Summer term is a plus
- Reliability and punctuality

- Professional demeanor and appearance
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

Work Schedule
- Consistent hours that work around your class schedule
- Typically, 5–8 hours per week during regular business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
- This is a year-round position, including summer, fall, and spring semesters
Skills & Experience Gained
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Experience with office equipment (copiers, fax machines, etc.)
- Customer service skills across diverse populations
