Public Programs Intern

The Education & Engagement department is seeking an intern to assist with the planning and execution of public programs in the fall of 2025 and spring of 2026. The intern will work closely with the Adult Programs & Tours Manager to assist with the execution and promotion of the Controversy/History series. 

Candidates should have foundational knowledge of Richmond history and politics, excellent research skills including experience with primary source material, and strong written and oral communication skills. Familiarity with local government and public policy is a plus, as is experience with data analysis, local journalism, and event planning. 

The goal of the Controversy/ History series is to provide a forum for exploring the challenges that impact the Richmond community, sharing historical context as well as quantitative data and encouraging participant involvement in shaping the region’s future. Each event involves a panel discussion, audience conversation, presentation on the history of the topic, and Q&A session.
