Seeking a self-motivated, organized and articulate student employee to serve as a Research Assistant for July 21-September 30, 2025. Hours are approximately 20 hours/week. The assistant will support outreach programs within the Office of Engagement and Extension by providing evaluation and impact information on a series of meat businesses operating in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana. The research assistant will use structured interviews and questionnaires to assess and provide data and information on how OEE programs and support have impacted their business development. This research assistant is expected to assist program leaders with a variety of tasks.
Duties of this position may include, but are not limited to:
- Identifying and scheduling businesses to be interviewed;
- Reviewing the story map process and ensuring that questions help project leaders realize evaluation goals;
- Conducting interviews with meat producers and collecting other data as needed;
- Entering information in story map software, ArcGIS;
- Building slide decks with impact content and recording presentations;
- Collecting other business information as needed;
- Creating additional outreach/promotional materials for meat-related programming.
Required Skills:
- Must be an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in the Livestock Business Management degree program at Colorado State University
- Received a minimum grade of ‘A’ in LBM 133 and LBM 233
- Received a minimum grade of ‘B’ in AREC 230
- Demonstrated Knowledge of ArcGIS
- Able to communicate appropriately to a diverse set of stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in agriculture and knowledge of livestock industry
- Ability to proficiently navigate Office suite software
- Able to maintain confidentiality, be punctual, and communicate project goals and steps to meat producers

- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines with successful completion of work
