The School of Biomedical and Chemical Engineering at Colorado State University is seeking a responsible and detail-oriented Course Grader to assist with grading assignments, lab reports, and other coursework for CBE 442.  This is a part-time position designed to support faculty by ensuring timely and consistent feedback for students while maintaining academic integrity and confidentiality.

Key responsibilities:

  • Grade homework, lab reports, quizzes, and/or exams according to established rubrics and instructor guidelines.
  • Ensure grading is accurate, fair, and completed in a timely manner to meet course deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student work and records in compliance with university policies.
  • Communicate with the course instructor regarding grading progress, discrepancies, or clarification on grading criteria.
  • Provide feedback to students, as directed by the instructor, to support learning outcomes.
  • Attend occasional meetings with the instructor (if requested) for grading calibration or updates.

Required Qualifications:

  • Enrollment as a Colorado State University student in good academic standing.
  • Successful completion (or equivalent knowledge) of CBE 442 or similar upper-level chemical engineering coursework.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to academic integrity.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records and grades.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a grader, teaching assistant, or tutor in engineering or related subjects.
  • Familiarity with grading rubrics and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas).
  • Strong written communication skills for providing constructive feedback.

Workload & Compensation:

  • Hours will vary depending on course enrollment and grading needs (typically 5–10 hours per week).
  • Compensation will be at the standard hourly rate of $15/hour for undergraduate/graduate graders as set by the department.
