The CSU Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President is looking for a student intern to join our communications team for the Spring 2026 semester.

CSU’s Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President oversees management of the academic enterprise of the University including all academic programs. The Provost and Executive Vice President and her leadership team direct the development and implementation of academic plans, strategies, and policies, and oversees the work of CSU’s faculties, colleges, departments, institutes, and research centers.

The Provost and Executive Vice President Social and Digital Media Intern will gain an overarching understanding of the University’s key academic initiatives and priorities by helping to manage the Provost and Executive Vice President’s social media presence and contribute to the presence of the Office and its portfolio of units. 

The successful candidate will have demonstrated skills in communications, social media, photography and/or videography, and basic graphics design and will demonstrate all the characteristics of a great CSU community member, including Ram Pride.

This internship is for the Spring 2026 semester with the possibility of extending and will report to Dr. Pam Jackson, Associate Vice Provost for Communications. 

The person selected for this role can expect to:

  • Assist in the daily creation of social media content, including (but not limited to):
    • Creating photos, graphics, and short videos optimized for various social media platforms
    • Performance monitoring through analytics
    • Attending speaking engagements and events attended by the Provost and Executive Vice President to capture and create content for various social media and web channels (sometimes working outside of normal business hours to attend events)
  • Assist in the creation of web content, updates, and maintenance for the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President and units under the Office’s portfolio
  • Ensure that the University image and brand is communicated consistently and appropriately on social and digital channels
  • Attend monthly communications meetings for University communicators hosted by the Division of Marketing and Communications
  • Take ownership on assigned projects and look for additional opportunities to contribute to overall goals and ideas for social media presence
  • Make suggestions to improve communications strategies through social media applications, and other efforts based on research and internal relationship management
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications/Skills:

Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time CSU undergraduate or graduate student for the duration of the internship. The successful applicant will demonstrate the following skills and characteristics:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated writing experience (knowledge of AP Style is strongly preferred) and communications instincts
  • Ability to meet deadlines and honor required time commitments
  • Ability to problem-solve
  • Strong knowledge of various social media platforms and be up to date with the latest trends and strategies in social media
  • Basic knowledge of graphics design
  • Passion for the Colorado State community and a willingness to foster the growth of that community through the use of social media platforms
  • Willingness to perform as part of a team while possessing a strong work ethic and commitment to accuracy, collaboration, and high-quality results
  • Ability to work with minimal direction and produce quality results in an efficient manner
  • Extremely detail-oriented, but still able to see the big picture
  • Ability to deal with change and meet multiple deadlines
  • Basic understanding of news media and social media platforms and trends in audience use/consumption
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage in a diverse stakeholder base and build strong professional relationships
  • Willingness to perform as part of a team while possessing a strong work ethic and commitment to accuracy, collaboration, and high-quality results
  • Dedication to professional standards while maintaining a creative spirit and a sense of fun in a professional environment
  • Ability to work with minimal direction and produce quality results in an efficient and timely manner, effective time-management skills

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

  • Graphic design, photography, and videography experience in a business setting
  • Experience creating content for branded social media accounts
  • Working knowledge in these areas: Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and WordPress, Adobe Design Suite, AP Style

Hours: 10-15 hours each week; flexible schedule, however the intern must have the availability and willingness to occasionally attend CSU events and work outside of normal business hours

Pay: $16/hour
