CHEM 107 LEARNING ASSISTANT (LA)
Approximate hours per week: 8
Hourly rate of pay: $16
Start date: January 16, 2026
We are excited to invite you to apply to join our team of Learning Assistants (LAs) for CHEM 107! This is a great position for those who have been successful in CHEM 107 and enjoy helping people connect to concepts.
As an LA, you will support students’ academic success in CHEM 107 by facilitating active learning & small group discourse in a variety of settings (lecture, office hours, group learning sessions, and small group tutoring). While helping students practice with course concepts, LAs further their own understanding of course content through preparation. LAs also learn, plan, and reflect on effective pedagogy with the support of the faculty instructors & program coordinators.
Working in the LA role will provide you with personal & professional development in communication skills, teaching and facilitation skills, critical thinking, leadership, and much more!
The LA Program is committed to the full inclusion of all students. As part of this commitment, we will ensure that those with disabilities are provided reasonable job accommodations; please inquire upon a job offer. This position is also eligible for work study.

- During your first semester as a LA, you are required to enroll in the one-credit course IU 274: Learning Assistants in Higher Education. (LAs are not on the clock for this time, since it is a for-credit course included on their transcript.)
