The Department of Art & Art History at Colorado State University is accepting applications to develop a pool of qualified candidates for a part-time, non-permanent Figure Model position. Hours may range from 3-9 hours per week depending on course offerings and individual availability. Classes are held during school hours, Monday-Friday.
A figure model is an individual who poses for artists, photographers, or other professionals. They will be required to pose nude, semi-nude or full clothed, depending on the class needs. The figure model should have a good understanding of body positioning and should be able to hold poses for extended periods of time.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pose for various lengths of time, from a few minutes to several hours with breaks, and maintain pose to ensure accuracy in the art piece.
- Attend modeling sessions on time and follow the directions of the instructor or artist.
- Be able to provide a full range of traditional life drawing poses, from gestures to sustained poses, as required by tradition and the instructor, or be able to learn and practice these poses.
- Tip or rotate body parts as needed to achieve the desired pose.
- Communicate discomfort or physical concerns to the instructor or studio manager.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
- Experience as a figure model or willingness to learn.
- Flexibility and physical endurance to hold poses for extended periods of time.
- Comfort with nudity as required for the job.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Previous experience as a figure model- dance or yoga experience may be considered.
- Knowledge of traditional poses and the capacity to execute them.
