Accounting Tutoring Lab Lead

This position is hiring for the spring 2026 Accounting Tutoring Lab Lead for our accounting tutoring lab, applying for and receiving work study is preferable, but not required. All interviews will be conducted using Zoom/Teams or phone.

 

Lab Leads will assist accounting students in ACT205, ACT210, and ACT220 in understanding course materials, as well as assisting with acquisition of course materials and setting up regular meetings with the accounting lab tutoring staff. There will also be additional duties ranging from managing supplies in the lab (cleaning, academic, and other) to assisting with scheduling and coaching of new lab tutors to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to assist students having academic difficulty in gaining a better understanding in order to improve academic performance. Maximum 12 hours per week.

 

Duties Include:

  • Assists in schedule management of lab tutors
  • Schedules regular meetings with the tutoring team to work through course materials and prepare knowledge required for ACT205, 210 and 220
  • Manages lab materials, assisting with requesting cleaning, academic, and other supplies as needed
  • Assists instructors with occasional grade checking
  • Assists students in using the McGraw-Hill Connect computer program.
  •  Helps students to understand accounting problems.
  •  Helps students interpret class notes.
  •  Helps students understand text material.
  •  Occasionally helps students with study skills.
  •  Occasionally assists faculty in preparing and administering exams.

 

Required:

  • 1 year experience as a lab tutor in the Accounting Tutoring Lab
  • Completed ACT210 and ACT220 with a B or higher grade and have a thorough knowledge of the subject matter for these courses
  • Strong communication skills, feels comfortable in asking questions and discussing accounting material
  • Ability to explain accounting concepts in simple terms
  • Desire to help students succeed in accounting
  • Flexibility to also assist faculty members with grading, exam preparation, and exam proctoring
  • Ability and willingness to provide outstanding customer service to students and faculty regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation.
  • Commit to working up to 10 hours per week
  • Dependable and somewhat flexible in availability during the week (M-F) and some evenings
  • Provide 3 professional and/or academic references

 

Preferred:

  • Strong organization and communication skills to assist with scheduling regular meetings with lab tutors
  • Completed ACT 311 with a B grade or higher and have a thorough knowledge of the subject matter for this course
  • Provide recent print or email verification of work-study from RAMweb. If you do not currently have a work-study award, please contact the office of financial aid to see if you qualify.

 

Additional Details:

  • There is 1 position available for the spring 2026 semester
  • Work-study is not required but preferred, all applicants must apply for work-study
  • Colorado State University may conduct background checks on all final candidates
