Lloyd Noble Scholars in Agriculture

Overview

The Noble Research Instiute LLC is accepting applications for the position as an intern in our highly recognized Lloyd Noble Scholars in Agriculture Program. This is a temporary position; the 2018 Lloyd Noble Scholars in Agriculture Program will begin in mid-May and end in mid-August.

 

The Lloyd Noble Scholars in Agriculture Program offers successful internship candidates the opportunity to enhance their career in agriculture by providing practical real-world experiences in a professional work environment.

 

Duration:  May - August 2018

 

Program Housing: The Institute will provide accommodations for all out-of-area Ag scholars.

 

Hourly Rate: $12.00 per hour (with housing) or $14.00 per hour (without housing). Per rules set forth by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), housing that is provided by the Institute is considered a taxable fringe benefit. Lloyd Noble Scholars earn approximately $4,800 for the 10-week program, working 40 hours per week, and are paid semi-monthly. Earnings are subject to applicable state and federal taxes. Students selected into the Lloyd Noble Scholars Program can usually arrange with their respective universities to obtain college credit hours for the internship.

The Lloyd Noble Scholars in Agriculture Program gives each participating student-Scholar an opportunity to enhance their career in agriculture by providing practical real-world experiences in a professional work environment.

 

Scholars are paired with a consultant from Producer Relations or with a professional mentor in their area of emphasis across the Institute. Placement is based on the Scholars career preferences and experience.

 

Scholars will work on a project or program within their discipline or an area of their interest. Each project or program is designed to help build the professional, technical, or educational capacity of the Scholar and expose them to a range of opportunities within the agriculture field. Scholars and mentors will work to refine the project or program area to fit the goals of the scholar and provide an outcome to the program area.

Responsibilities

Successful applicants will work alongside agricultural researchers and consultants who assist farmers, ranchers and other land owners operating in the cattle belt of the south-central plains region of the United States to attain financial, production and quality-of-life goals. Specifically, in this program, scholars will develop valuable applied agriculture skills; interact with and assist in identifying solutions to real-world issues encountered by producers; and further enhance communication and leadership skills necessary to be effective advocates for agriculture.

 

The objective of the scholar experience is to provide participants a competitive advantage in the development of a career in a leading agricultural field of study, thus enabling them to positively impact the agriculture industry of tomorrow.

Qualifications

Agriculture Scholars must:

 

  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in a college, university or technical school within the United States, such program resulting in the award of a baccalaureate or associates degree;
  • Have completed sophomore year (at least 60 credit hours) with a declared major in an agriculture-related field with appropriate course work (see below);
  • Be legally authorized to work in the United States (for any employer) and WILL NOT require employment visa sponsorship for this internship;
  • Be capable of working 40 hours per week for 10 weeks; and
  • Have their own means of transportation for non-work related travel.

In addition, the successful candidate should be willing to travel and spend some nights away from home. The Institute will provide business-related transportation and travel expenses.

 

Due to the nature of the internship it is highly preferred that the successful candidate have a means of transportation. Lloyd Noble Scholars work and live in Ardmore, Okla., during the program.
