Audio Visual Project Engineer
đ§đĄ Project Engineer (a.k.a. The Person Who Actually Knows How It All Works) đĄđ§
đ Why Ford AV?
For over 50 years, Ford AV has been the reason rooms donât sound terrible, screens actually turn on, and technology mostly behaves itself.
We partner with major businesses, universities, and public institutions to design and build systems that make people say,
đ âWowâŚthis just works.â
And behind that magic?
đ Project Engineers. (Yes, thatâs you.)
đ§ What Youâll Actually Do
Youâre the bridge between âwe sold itâ and âit works perfectly.â
- đŻ Design systems â Audio, video, lighting, acousticsâŚyou make it all make sense
- đ Create drawings â CAD/AutoCAD is your playground
- đ Test systems â Because âit should workâ is not good enough
- đŁď¸ Translate tech to humans â Turn complicated engineering into something people understand
- đ¤ Collaborate â PMs, installers, clientsâŚyouâre the glue holding it all together
- đ Document everything â Because âI think we talked about thatâ is not documentation
đ§ How We Train You (This Matters)
We offer an installation training track (6â12 months)Â for our Project Engineers.
Why? Because our founderâwho is also an engineerâhas learned over 50+ years that the best engineers arenât just taughtâŚtheyâre built in the field.
Youâll take what you learned in the classroom and apply it in real-world environmentsâworking with tools, systems, and installation teamsâso when you design something, you actually understand how it gets built.
𧊠What Makes You a Fit
- You know your way around CAD/AutoCAD
- Youâve touched programming (C, C#, Crestron, Extron, AMXâŚyouâve seen at least one of these in the wild)
- You can explain complex things without sounding like a robot
- Youâre organized enough to keep projects (and people) on track
- You have a degree in engineering/techâŚor enough real-world experience to prove you donât need one
đ New grads welcome (as long as youâre ready to learn fast and work hard)
đŻ Bonus Points
- Youâve designed or installed AV systems before
- Youâve collected certifications like Dante, Q-SYS, CTS, etc.
- Youâve been the âgo-toâ person when something technical breaks
đ° What You Get
- Competitive pay + full benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, etc.)
- 401(k) with matching đ¸
- Paid training + certifications (we invest in you)
- PTO + holidays
- A team that actually supports each other (yes, really)
- Real career growthâwe promote from within đ
â ď¸ Important (Read This Before You Apply)
- This is not a remote job â youâll be in the office and occasionally in the field
- We do not offer relocation assistance for new employees
- Youâll need to be comfortable working in both office and real-world job site environments
âď¸ The Reality Check
This role lives in both worlds:
- đĽď¸ Office: designing, documenting, coordinating
- đď¸ Field: checking installs, climbing ladders, occasionally dealing with weather and dust
Youâll think. Youâll build. Youâll troubleshoot.
And sometimesâŚyouâll explain for the third time why turning it off and on again actually works.
𧊠Bottom Line
If you like solving problems, designing systems, and being the person everyone turns to when things get complicatedâŚ
đ Youâll thrive here.
If you want a job where nothing ever breaks, no one asks questions, and everything is easyâŚ
đ That job does not exist đ
