Concrete Construction Field Engineering Intern
Roles and Responsibilities
The Formwork Engineering Intern will possess competency in the following areas in order to perform his/her role in a safe, productive, and effective manner. Note that the areas listed are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by co-workers assigned to this role. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the responsibilities, skills, efforts, or working conditions associated with this job.
- Collaborates with team members on specific projects or tasks
- Carries-out assigned tasks and collaborates with team members and managers to resolve issues related to those tasks
- Acquires practical experience to supplement academic coursework
- Documents outcomes and resolutions to problems
- Champions Incident and Injury Free (IIF) environment for project.
- Sets example by following safety guidelines including but not limited to wearing PPE on jobs, staying aware of surroundings, etc.
- Attends and participates in toolbox talks and provides input for safety task analysis
- Complies with proper safety procedures
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in a degree program at a college or university in the fall of 2026 and possess prior work experience in any field
- Must be pursuing a career in civil or mechanical engineering construction
- Basic knowledge of CAD software

- Willingness to ask questions of co-workers, in order to learn, to avoid unsafe situations/conditions, and to be a team player
- Willingness to work in both the field and the office
- Ability to communicate with all co- workers
- Ability to perform basic mathematical processes such as addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, percentages, and ratios
- Ability to use Microsoft software programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Basic knowledge of CAD software
- Basic knowledge of 3D software is a plus
- Ability to work with co-workers at all levels in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to deal with problems involving specific variables in standardized situations
- Ability to comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and Haz-mat information
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished by written, oral or diagram form
- Ability to exert heavy physical effort, handling average weight objects up to 50 pounds
