Job Description

This position provides clinical support for the Mycobacteriology lab in the Microbiology unit. This position is responsible for specimen processing, culture set-up and examination, Brightfield and fluorescent microscopy per laboratory protocol. The position processes sputum, blood, stool, and other clinical specimens. They will perform tests that aid in the identification of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and other mycobacteria species using conventional and molecular methods, perform hands-on maintenance and repairs, cross-train to perform other testing functions in the lab, and provide training to other staff as needed. Manager prefers ability to provide direction, great attention to detail, and experience working in a BSL-3 laboratory in a clinical diagnostic or public health laboratory. ASCP or equivalent preferred.

Degree Requirements: Bachelor's degree and/or above in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, microbiology, or biological or chemical science.

The successful candidate will meet CLIA '88 requirements for testing personnel in a high complexity laboratory.
