Position Summary

This position provides support to NRRT 193 New to the Major Seminar, our Canvas course for undergraduate advising and communication and various events and meetings for current and prospective students.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Current CSU student in the Department of Human Dimensions of Natural Resources
  • Must be able to fully support the HDNR department’s vision and goals 
  • Demonstrate excellent guest service skills 
  • Strong organizational and project management skills 
  • Be skilled at working autonomously and as a team member  
  • Be dependable, motivated, flexible, and have strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Basic computer skills necessary, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Canvas Learning Management System
  • A demonstrated commitment to social justice and diversity 
  • Ability to contribute diverse perspectives in the workplace   

 

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Able to make a minimum one-year commitment to the position beginning with the 2026-2027 academic year 
  • Maintain work hours/responsibilities of up to 12 hours/week, 5-hour minimum 

 

Essential Duties

  • NRRT 193 New to the Major Seminar
    • Serve as liaison between instructors and students
    • Assist with logistics for field trips
    • Schedule guest speakers for class
    • Assist with grading
  • “HDNR Advising” Canvas Shell
    • Update new items, remove old items
  • Meet with prospective Freshman and Transfer students in person or virtually as needed
  • Help with RamWelcome at beginning of Fall and Spring semesters and with transfer student advising sessions during academic year
  • Help at HDNR and WCNR events during the school year (Fall Picnic, NR Days, WCNR Awards Ceremony, WCNR Scholarship Banquet, special guests/seminars, Commencement, etc.)
  • Assist with communications for undergraduate students
  • Other duties as needed which may include
    • Sit at table in NR Atrium to serve as a resource for interested students
    • Help with Collaborative for Student Achievement students interested in HDNR majors
