Crop Service Intern

Work with the Area Crop Specialist who works as crop consultant on crop management.  Consulting includes monitoring soil moisture, crop stand and stage, weeds, insects, diseases and making appropriate recommendations as appropriate. Communicate both written and verbally with customers on reports and recommendations. Develop new business relationships and work as a team with other local staff. Assist customers in implementing precision agricultural practices such as variable rate seeding and fertilization. Use remote soil moisture monitoring equipment to assist customers in irrigation management


Crop production interest at a minimum preferably with agricultural background and/or working on an agricultural or natural resources degree.  Ability to learn new tasks, weeds, diseases, insects, equipment, etc. and use that information in making recommendations. Problem solving skills/decision making skills are critical. Operate and live in rural environment independently.  Make sure equipment is maintained and serviced appropriately. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Work in teams when necessary. Like to be outside and can deal with the situations variable weather can cause in a job that is exposed to the elements. Manage own time effectively and be a self-starter. Ethics and integrity are required.


Deliver quality information to customers on crop production management. Develop new business relationships and maintain those. Monitoring crop acres for all management considerations. Self-manage and motivate.
