Position Summary
This student position supports agricultural and research activities associated with the USDA Cooperative Agreement, with a primary focus on animal handling and biological sample collection. The role assists with daily animal care, research procedures, data tracking, and inventory management to ensure the timely and accurate execution of research activities.
Anticipated Start Date
Anticipated start date is contingent upon successful completion of the background check process.
Anticipated Weekly Hours
10-20 hours per week
Required Job Qualifications
Basic knowledge of animal handling practices or willingness to be trained
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols
Ability to accurately record data and maintain organized records
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Ability to lift, move, or handle animals and supplies as required (with or without reasonable accommodation)
Preferred Job Qualifications
Coursework or hands-on experience in animal science, livestock management, or research environments
Experience with animal handling, restraint, or care
Familiarity with biological sample collection procedures
Experience with data entry, spreadsheets, or basic recordkeeping
Experience maintaining inventory or managing supplies
Essential Duties
Assist with animal handling, restraint, and routine care in support of research activities
Support collection of samples (e.g., blood, tissue, or other specimens) following established protocols
Maintain accurate records of animal care, research activities, and sample collection
Ensure proper handling, storage, and inventory of research supplies and materials
Provide general support for research operations, including data entry and coordination as needed
