Internship Title: Historic House Museum Internship - Fall 2026
Internship Location: Center for Colorado Women’s History, Denver, CO
Stipend: $2,000. The stipend is not salary or compensation. The stipend is meant to support study and research during the tenure of the appointment and will be issued upon completion of the internship.
Qualified candidates may receive academic credit through their college or university. *Check with your school's Internship Coordinator BEFORE accepting the hiring offer to determine if this position satisfies the criteria for receiving academic credit.

Desired Schedule: 16 hours/week (Mid- September through December, 2026). Intern should expect some evenings and one weekend day per week.
Broad Scope of Position: The Historic House Museum Intern works alongside professional staff and volunteers to gain comprehensive, hands-on experience in museum operations. This role offers practical exposure to guest services, educational programming, special events, public tour guiding, and community engagement, while developing foundational leadership skills in the museum studies field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead public tours, welcome guests, and facilitate front-of-house operations, including gift shop transactions and cash handling.
- Assist with the preparation, setup, and execution of educational programming and special events, including scheduled weekend and evening shifts.
- Support the staff and volunteer teams in daily museum maintenance and community engagement initiatives.
Learning Outcomes:
- Gain a broad understanding of daily operations and strategic workflows within a historic house museum.
- Work directly with a diverse team of staff and volunteers, gaining insight into different operational approaches and museum methodologies.
- Participate firsthand in the creative problem-solving, experimentation, and program development that drives modern museum work.
Desired Skills & Academic Field of Study: Undergraduate and Graduate Students in History, Public History, Hospitality, Women's Studies, Anthropology, Humanities, or a related field.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn Google Suite
- Basic computer and internet literacy
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Comfort with regular public speaking and group management
- Ability to work independently and self-direct the completion of a project
