Junior Data Engineer / Analyst

About the Role:

We are looking for a highly motivated, analytical, and detail-oriented Junior Data Engineer / Analyst to join our dynamic team in San Francisco. In this remote role, you will bridge the gap between data engineering and data analytics. You will be responsible for building robust data pipelines, ensuring data integrity across our systems, and translating complex datasets into strategic insights that drive product growth, user engagement, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Pipeline Management: Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows to ingest large-scale product and user datasets.
Advanced Querying: Write complex, highly optimized SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and transform data from various relational and non-relational databases.
Dashboarding & Reporting: Develop and maintain automated, interactive dashboards and reporting systems (using BI tools or advanced Google Sheets/Excel modeling) to track core business and product KPIs.
Exploratory Analysis: Conduct deep-dive data analysis to identify emerging trends, user behaviors, and potential bottlenecks within the product funnel.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Engineering, Product, and Business Operations teams to define data collection requirements and ensure accurate event tracking.
Data Quality Assurance: Monitor data integrity, troubleshoot pipeline anomalies, and ensure high accuracy in all reporting metrics.
Experimentation Support: Assist in setting up A/B tests and analyzing experiment results to guide the development of new AI features.

What We Are Looking For (Requirements):

Education: Recently graduated with a M.S. degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
Technical Skills: Strong foundational knowledge of SQL and relational database management.
Scripting: Proficiency in at least one scripting language, preferably Python (including libraries like Pandas and NumPy) for data manipulation and automation.
Analytical Mindset: Ability to break down ambiguous business questions into structured data problems and solve them logically.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Adaptability: A strong desire to learn and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.

Bonus Points (Preferred Qualifications):

Familiarity with cloud data warehousing concepts (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Amazon Redshift).
Experience with Business Intelligence and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Metabase, PowerBI).
Basic understanding of data orchestration and transformation tools (like Apache Airflow or dbt).
Previous internship, academic project, or work experience in a SaaS, AI, or tech-driven company.
