 Job Description 

 This position will perform administrative and engineering management oversight of maintenance and repair operations for the State Laboratory of Public Health (NCSLPH)/Office of Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) facility under the supervision of the NCSLPH Assistant Director for Operations. This building must be managed and maintained to be fully operational 24/7/365 to meet the expectation and requirements as a laboratory which participates in the national Laboratory Response Network (LRN) and the Select Agent Program (SAP).

Employee will have responsibility for all aspects of engineering operations and functions including facility design, renovations/repair activities, daily and ongoing routine and preventative maintenance and security systems operations and security policy oversight.
 
Many facility spaces are classified as biocontainment rooms including Biosafety Level 3 and 2 laboratory spaces. This position will be responsible for maintaining directional airflow and balance of these biocontainment laboratory spaces.
 
Duties will include managing a substantial combination of functions such as electrical, plumbing, mechanical laboratory refrigeration systems and storage units, gas piping systems, pest management, security policy and procedures, safety, grounds, renovations and new facilities, drawing working plans for renovations and repairs, designing and implementing efficiency upgrades, cost estimating of repairs and other projects, construction management, hazardous waste storage and removal, maintenance of facility licensed vehicles and warehouse equipment, and the preventative and routine maintenance of laboratory/autopsy equipment and facilities.

Education Recommended: Bachelor's and/or above in Facilities or Construction Management or related Engineering field.
