Health Technology Specialist VISTA

Harbor Homes, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization in NH whose mission is to create and provide quality residential, health care, and supportive services—in short, a continuum of supports for individuals and families to escape and avoid homelessness. Harbor Homes is NH’s largest builder and supplier of supportive housing, and also offers the state’s only stand-alone federally qualified health center for the homeless, which provides low-to-no cost primary, behavioral, and dental health care.

Complementing housing and healthcare are comprehensive economic and social supports, including employment and substance misuse treatment. The latter suite of programs is having significant success combating Greater Nashua’s devastating opioid crisis. Headquartered in Nashua, the state’s second largest city, Harbor Homes has 51 programs that serve 5,000 community members annually.
Under guidance of seasoned professionals, the VISTA Member will have the opportunity to complete a range of informatics projects for the healthcare arm of Harbor Homes. Short-term projects will gain VISTA Members valuable experience in the technology of the nonprofit and healthcare sectors, as well as people skills.

The VISTA member will help:
• Analyze outcomes and perform data analytics for new programs, such as our Safe Station Programming and Mobile Crisis Response Team, which combat our area’s opioid crisis.
• Develop analytic frameworks for new programs
• Educate program leaders on data trends and recommend program changes
• Conduct trainings for front-end database users

VISTA Members should have:
• A degree in Health Science & Informatics or similar preferred
• Proven experience in database systems and/or analytics
• Ability to develop projects independently, with team support
• Passion for healthcare and human services
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

The Families in Transition (FIT) VISTA Program is focused on improving the quality of life for the most disadvantaged members of New Hampshire communities. Our efforts are led by a remarkable team of dedicated AmeriCorps VISTA members from all over the country. Our capacity building VISTAs are strategically placed with selected host sites that provide critical services, training and empowerment programs aimed at lifting residents up and out of the chains of poverty. As a VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America), you will work for a minimum of one year to build programs, create change, and fight poverty in New Hampshire communities.
