Ranch Apprentice

A Colorado Grass-Fed Beef operation is looking to fill 2 Apprenticeship positions starting immediately. We are located 45 minutes east of downtown Denver along the I-70 corridor. As an apprentice you will be involved in all aspects of this farm/ranch and will grow into more responsibility the longer you are here.

There are three main components to this operation:
Ranching: Depending on the time of year, we intensively graze between 500-600 animal units. Our cows are medium frame Angus genetics that we breed to Wagyu bulls. Weaned calves are finished on the ranch and slaughtered between 24-26 months of age.
Farming: We farm 3,500 acres on a 2-year rotation. A majority of the farm ground is newly acquired and we are experimenting this year with grazing dry land cover crops. The rest of our farming is haying forage crops for winter feed, using mostly brand new John Deere equipment.
Retail: We market our beef directly to consumers and restaurants. Customers can pick up their orders at the ranch or have it shipped to their front door via our website.

Our ideal candidate is out of college or has similar life experience and maturity level. We want folks who have a desire to learn and are committed to regenerative/sustainable farming and ranching practices. A minimum commitment of 6 months is required and some previous farm/ranch experience is preferred. Housing is a very nice newly renovated bunk house. Work schedule is 5 1/2 days per week.
