Hiring Salary Range:
$29.37/hourly (min.) up to $35.82/hourly (midpoint)
$61,089.60/annual (min.) up to $74,495.20/annual (midpoint)

Job Posting
Denver Water’s Engineering Division/Distribution and Property Management Section is currently seeking a qualified candidate to assist us as an Engineer Associate.

Under direct supervision, assists with planning studies and project design from concept to completion on small or entry type projects. Assist on maintenance of existing facilities, models, systems, and equipment analyzing/diagnosing issues and improvements through field investigations, testing, and engineering.

The Engineer Associate will work on the design and permitting of 120k LF of 12-inch distribution main annually, the development of the Engineering Standards and the Capital Projects construction Standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
·        Assist with planning studies, project design and maintenance improvement projects from conception through construction.
·        Analyze routine technical, engineering and operational problems.
·        Collect data through field observation/measurement, laboratory use, and other forms of research and analyses.
·        Assist with the preparation of planning studies, contract pans and specifications. Coordinate construction inspection and contract administration.
·        Analyze and gather data to assist identifying engineering and planning problems.
·        Perform investigations, calculations and sketches necessary to complete planning studies, finished designs and construction specifications on less complex projects.
·        Experience with distribution pipe design and standard land development practices preferred.
·        Manage the development of Denver Water’s Engineering Standards, and Capital Projects meet Construction Standards, and industry standards.
·        Design and permit distribution mains for bid under the City Pipe program.
·        Perform plan review services for conduit design, as needed.
·        Perform related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
·        Bachelor of Science from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering.
·        No related work experience required.
·        Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities for the position.

Licenses, Registration, and Certifications:
·        Must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam administered by the National Council for Engineering Examiners within 6 months of hire.
·        Must be able to possess and maintain a valid Class ‘R’ Colorado driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.
