Hopyard Intern

Hop Head Farms, LLC is Michigan's leading hop production and processing firm supplying premium quality hop products to brewers worldwide. We have numerous farms located in southwest Michigan that total more than 150 planted acres and over 300 acres available for expansion. We are seeking dedicated interns interested in getting involved in a burgeoning industry for the region.

Students can expect to be fully immersed in all hop production processes from first shoot emergence to harvest, as well as construction of new trellises and planting new acreage. It is our goal that the student will be well informed on key aspects of hop growing by the conclusion of the internship. These include canopy, fertility, water, and pest management in addition to site assessment and establishment. Students will also have exposure to multiple state of the art harvest centers to gain familiarity with harvest and post-harvest production processes. Ample instruction and training will be provided to ensure a safe and productive environment. If desired, opportunities will be available to gain experience operating heavy equipment and machinery key for successful production.

Compensation is $13/hour. Housing is provided and located in Berrien Springs, MI. Students will be responsible for securing transportation to and from work. Candidates should expect to work 40-50 hours per week in the field, and must be able to lift 40 pounds. Prospective start date is May 29th, 2019 and end date is August 14, 2019. Opportunities for full-time employment may be available based on job performance and demonstrated commitment.
