Environmental Stewardship

Explore and help preserve the natural, local ecology of Delaware through restorative field work. Under the leadership of our Field Biologists and Conservation Technicians, you will serve as part of a 4 person team restoring natural habitats in our Northern Piedmont Plateau parks, specifically through manual and chemical removal of invasive plants. Serve alongside other interns with like interests and backgrounds. This position is fully outdoors in the fields, forests, meadows, beaches, and the other landscapes that make up our beautiful parks. Extensive training includes Piedmont native and invasive plant identification, forest ecology, and practical control mechanism - both manual and chemical. Interns are crucial to our management plans. Teams meet at central location and are provided transportation to work site, if required.

AmeriCorps Educational Award (optional): Interns engaged in Education, Management, Administration, or Environmental Stewardship are eligible to receive an AmeriCorps Education Award upon completion of their service if they choose. The award amount varies and is based on the total number of hours served. The award can be used for educational expenses including tuition, student loans, books, and other fees for up to 7 years after completion of service.
