Entry Level Human Resources Assistant

The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU) is seeking an Entry level Human Resources Assistant who will provide day-to-day administrative support to the Human Resources team in the areas of recruitment, payroll, benefits administration, and compensation. LASP is an affiliate of CU Boulder AeroSpace Ventures, a collaboration among aerospace-related departments, institutes, centers, government labs, and industry partners.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Two years of related work experience. Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.

Job Responsibilities:
Data Entry/Record Keeping:
  • Enter and update employment data into HCM and timekeeping systems, including new employee accounts, visitor accounts, pay rate, percentage of appointment, and supervisory changes.
  • Collect timekeeping records from undergraduate students and retirees and enter hours into HCM system for payroll purposes.
  • Maintain and update employee records and personnel files.
  • Process terminations via data entry in HRMS and timekeeping systems, in addition to collection of LASP items and exit interviews.
  • Troubleshoot monthly and bi-weekly timesheet questions and work closely with the LASP Payroll Accountant to identify any account issues with timekeeping system.
  • Review and process employee leave accrual balances and vacation pay-out on an ongoing basis.
  • Run monthly payroll, audit, and other reports.

Student Hiring/Onboarding:
  • Prepare orientation and onboarding materials for student hires.
  • Ensure compliance with I-9, e-verify, FMLA and other legal and university requirements.
  • Coordinate employment activities for LASP graduate, undergraduate students, and temporary employees, including job posting, interview scheduling, offer letter generation, and new-hire follow-up.
  • Process new employee paperwork with University Human Resources and Employee Services.

Other Duties as Assigned:
  • Perform customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions. 
  • Make photocopies, faxes documents and performs other clerical functions.
