Events Intern

Mission Point Resort, Mackinac Islands’ only full service, casual resort is currently seeking candidates to fill the position of Events Intern. This full time/seasonal position is located on Mackinac Island and offers competitive pay, housing, other perks. The ideal applicant will have previous experience in banquets/conference services, possess an upbeat attitude, and enjoy working in a multi-cultural environment.

Mission Point’s Events Internship provides valuable hands-on experience that will assist in the development and growth of the skills necessary to be competitive in the hospitality/events industry. Events Interns support the Conference Services Managers with daily office duties including: meeting with clients, making phone calls, and making signage and room diagrams. In addition, interns receive the opportunity to communicate with both vendors and clients, provide on-site management at events and assist in the coordination of over 200 wedding ceremonies and group events during our six month season.

Other duties that fall under this role include:

·        Creating and editing Banquet Event Orders and invoices

·        Attending BEO and resume meetings

·        Answering questions about the property and menus while working directly with clients

When appropriate, an intern may be given the lead on small weddings and groups including direct staff supervision and coordination. In addition, the intern will participate fully in Mission Point’s hospitality culture as a member of our staff and maintain an excellent line of communication with the Conference Services Managers.
