Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children's Office of Health Equity & Inclusion (OHEI), Research & Education Section (RES) offers a six-month Pre-Doctoral/Post-Doctoral fellowship in Health Disparities Epidemiology Control and Elimination. The program focuses on the application of advanced epidemiologic methods in the understanding of the etio-pathogenesis of pediatric health disparities. The utilization of such knowledge is required in mapping interventions with the intent to narrow diverse population differences in pediatric healthcare and health outcomes. While social determinants are essential in understanding unequal outcomes of care, biologic determinants also play an important role. The RES fellowship explores exposomes, genomics and epigenetic findings using original research as well as quantitative evidence synthesis (QES) to examine the complex pathway in disentangling race and ethnicity in the explanatory model of pediatric health disparities. Further, the approach is translational, trans-disciplinary and team science, which renders evidence discovery more inclusive and reliable for quality and equity attainment.
