User Services Associate

Job Summary: 
As part of the User Services Department, the User Services Associate provides patrons with library services and information in the User Services Department. The User Services Associate acts as the primary point of contact to the public, provides basic information and directional assistance, assists users in locating materials, and maintains a helpful and courteous service environment in the library. Typical job duties include circulation of library materials, management of borrower accounts, maintenance of the library book collection, management of course reserves, and supervision of student employees.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • An Associate Degree.
  • Two years of library, office, or customer service experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to engage with diverse groups of people using tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of library records, student records, and other restricted information.
  • Ability to use technology systems, software, and equipment found in an academic library.
  • Good computer and data entry skills with the ability to input information with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to direct student employees.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
