The UVM Morgan Horse Farm is a historic Morgan Breeding farm. We are located in beautiful North Western Vermont, approximately 50 minutes south of Burlington. We house between 30 and 40 horses, ship semen, stand outside stallions, breed our own mares with the goal of 6 to 10 foals a year, train young horses, sell approximately 6 to 10 horses a year, and host interns and apprentices year round. Our main focus is to teach horsewomen everything they need to be successful in the horse industry while preserving the Morgan breed. We also offer daily tours May through October and do various other teaching and outreach events. 
We offer apprenticeships that are usually a year long but can be changed to fit the needs of the student. This apprenticeship will allow exposure to all aspects of the industry, from showing and training, to breeding and foaling, to managing herd health and equine nutrition. Apprentices will learn to:
tease and breed mares
collect stallions
prepare and ship semen
care for pregnant mares
assist with foaling and newborn care
handle and work with youngstock
start horses under saddle and driving
handle stallions clip, bathe, and exercise horses
give oral, IM, and IV medications (when the opportunities arise)
vaccinate and de-worm all ages and types of horses
establish a herd health protocol
condition horses for different activities
manage herd nutrition
become reliable in all aspects of daily chores
and show horses (based on rider and horse experience level)
Apprentices are expected to work 5 days a week and a few rotational night checks a week Furnished housing is provided with all utilities paid and WiFi.
