Specialist, Global Youth Engagement: Program Support
The Special Olympics Specialist, Global Youth Engagement: Program Support is part of the team responsible for implementing the goals, objectives and strategies of Special Olympics global youth engagement. This position will be responsible for creating and executing the technical assistance plan to high priority Regions and Programs.
This position will contribute to a team that is responsible for professional development, technical assistance, grant management and content development to grow youth programming around the world.
Primary Responsibilities:
Work with the Senior Manager and Special Olympics Regional teams to lead Special Olympics Programs to fully comprehend and systemize youth engagement and Unified Schools
Assist in the development of a technical assistance regimen that supports priority Programs in development of Unified Schools
Identify strategies for and provide support in transitioning Programs as they build the infrastructure, systems, processes, skills and knowledge necessary to grow programming across their country
Identify and create resources needed to grow Unified Schools programming globally.
Contribute to the implementation of a year-round technical assistance calendar, including annual training, that serves to promote and disseminate new data , best practices and strategies for priority Programs and Regions
Facilitate consistent communication systems with Special Olympics Regional teams and priority Special Olympics Programs that encourages information sharing with the intent of supporting programmatic improvement re Unified Schools, collection of best practices and resources that can be shared with internal and external audiences.
Contribute to the review of data and make recommendations for continuous improvement of the Unified Schools implementation model.
Identify how to promote resources in a streamline and consistent manner

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
1+ years of experience with Special Olympics; or a similar organization in a project management focused position, with specific strengths in strategic planning, change management and project management
Clear understanding of and sincere passion for Special Olympics and social inclusion initiatives
Experience with guiding Special Olympics Programs towards execution of a project or initiative
Experience working with area/local Programs
Hands-on experience with internet and information systems used to communicate and inform the general public, youth, Special Olympics Program staff, and SOI colleagues (incl. HQ and Regional teams)
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel helpful)
Strong written and oral presentation skills
Familiarity with data and reporting
Self-motivated and able to work well independently without a great deal of direction
Willingness and ability to travel independently
Represent the organization in a professional manner
Demonstrated global awareness and ability to work cross-culturally

Strong project management and change management skills
Ability to work as a team player and manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Experience in planning and organizing meetings, seminars and conferences
Relationship manager that understands and balances ever changing nuances
Ability to summarize and analyze data in a cohesive manner
Ability to take strategic concepts and manage their implementation
