Internship - Engineering Summer 2019

Summary:
 
The Civil Engineering Intern will have the opportunity to apply education to a professional setting, while gaining valuable experience and skills. In this role, the Intern will learn and apply our processes, and understand industry best practices and trends.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Work within a team of professionals in developing civil engineering plans and specification for a multitude of projects
  • Assist in producing design/construction drawings, technical specifications, and bid documents
  • Help to communicate and coordinate technical evaluations and designs, technical writing of reports and correspondence with Project Manager and design team to complete work efficiently
  • Support team in completing design tasks within budget and on schedule
  • Stay current with local, state, and federal design standards & regulations
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.              
 
Qualifications:
 
Required
 
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering (or similar) Bachelor’s degree program as rising Junior (Class of 2021) or Senior (Class of 2020).
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Availability to commit to our team for 12 weeks (beginning first week of June).
  • A basic understanding of the working concepts of Civil projects from start to finish - bidding process through project close out.
  • Ability to understand basic project components and analyze schematics such as engineering drawings and specs; estimates, change orders, and schedules.
  • Strong technical skills: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Organizational ability – able to plan, prioritize, organize and monitor activities and projects. Able to work well in a group environment and foster a team approach.
 
Preferred
 
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6 and HeavyJob preferred.
  • Highly motivated and dedicated to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical writing proficiencies.
