DESCRIPTION:The Idaho State Department of Agriculture located in Boise, ID is pleased to offer a Geographic Information System Internship beginning in June 2019.
We are currently recruiting for an intern for the Plants Division, located in Boise, Idaho. The internship is not limited to only students, but prior knowledge and experience with geographic information systems is required. This position is related to natural resource management; specifically, the data gathered and reported for invasive species and noxious weeds in the state of Idaho.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
- Database updates
- Data management serving a variety of purposes
- Data editing
- Data conversion (projections)
- Read and interpret maps
- Field survey
- Field data collection hardware support
- Evaluation of boundary designations for project areas
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:These qualifications are mandatory requirements.
- Basic skills, training, or classroom instruction in GIS are required. This knowledge must be supported on your resume
- Basic understanding of ESRI software (ARCGIS) required. Additional preference will be given to those who have experience with survey 123 and/or ARCGIS online. This knowledge must also be supported on your resume
- Demonstrative ability to be creative and resourceful
- Demonstrated skills in following through on multiple tasks and a willingness to step in and assist whenever needed
- Ability to dress and conduct oneself with professionalism while representing ISDA
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
Desirable Area: This qualification is not required; however, if you have the related background it may increase your score.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office products
Approximate Duration: June 2019 – November 2019
Hours: Generally, up to 40 hrs. per week, Monday through Friday, with some flexibility and the possibility of occasional overtime.
Compensation: $12.50/hr.
