Engineer - Thermal Mechanical

The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) has been developing innovative technologies and solutions for cutting-edge DoD and intelligence programs for six decades. Our expertise is in space and airborne IR, VIS, UV, and RF sensors, small satellite technologies, test and calibration, cybersecurity, data visualization and assurance, and ground stations.

SDL is seeking a hands-on, senior-level engineer to work all phases of a space flight program with an emphasis on thermal design, analysis, and testing state-of-the-art instruments. The selected candidate may act as the mechanical project lead for concept and requirement development, proposal development, mechanical design, thermal analysis, fabrication support, thermal vacuum testing, and field support. Based on current program needs, we are looking for someone to take on thermal project lead duties and to perform the related analysis in the near term.

Required Qualifications:
·   BS in mechanical engineering
·   A minimum of 5 years relevant experience
·   Proficient in the use of Thermal Desktop and thermal analysis tools
·   Must be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident of the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:
·   MS in mechanical engineering
·   Experience with Solid Edge
·   Familiar in the use of FEMAP for pre- and post-processing of finite element models and knowledge of NASTRAN for structural analysis
