Child Welfare Services Staff Assistant

The Child Welfare Services Division (CWS) of Denver Human Services (DHS) is looking to hire a dynamic and detail-oriented individual as a Staff Assistant. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for maintaining the division travel and procurement processes as well as providing exceptional customer service and division support in the various operations processes.
Additionally, the Staff Assistant:

  • Answers and directs incoming calls from internal and external customers
  • Provides support and assistance to division staff when needed
  • Serve as the travel card coordinator and arrange travel for agency staff and Child Welfare clients 
  • Enters requisitions and tracks vendor payments in Workday
  • Act as the purchase card (P Card) coordinator and make a variety of purchases for the division and reconcile those purchases in Workday
  • Assists in determining if new equipment is needed, purchases equipment and operating supplies, manages supply inventory, contacts vendors to resolve discrepancies, and monitors expenditures
  • Acts as a liaison by providing technical support and customer service to staff members, other city department/agencies, and the public while maintaining a working knowledge of relevant Child Welfare as well as DHS laws, regulations, policies, and procedures related to the operational area
  • Serve as the division SharePoint liaison
  • Creates and revises division forms
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Education requirement:  Associate's Degree.
  • Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of experience performing specialized and/or technical office support work of the type and at the level of Administrative Support Assistant IV.
  • Education/Experience Equivalency:  One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post high school education.
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for experience requirements.
