IT & Data Specialist
Serves as part of the Division of Administration and is supervised by under the Chief of Administration. Installs and maintains computer equipment in a complex network environment following NPS and DOI standard procedures. Pursues optimal communication and systems coverage throughout the park; supports radio and voice communication systems in coordinating with regional office staff. Supports network servers and network data storage devices. Installs approved software; requests approval for software as needed. Serves as a Windows 10 operating system expert; troubleshoots and resolves standard Windows systems' issues. Provides routine, moderate and complex support to all park employees, volunteers, interns, and partners. Regularly checks and responds to customers' support requests. Serves as a contact for St Croix NSR's PIV card enrollment center; maintains, activates, and issues PIV/Smartcards in accordance with DOI USAccess Station rules and procedures. Installs approved software; requests approval for software as needed. Serves as a Windows 10 operating system expert. Troubleshoots and resolves standard Windows systems' issues. Maintains and supports Active Directory accounts; NPS email accounts for park staff. Encrypts computers using NPS-approved encryption procedures and software. Coordinates centralization of records and data storage across the park. Consolidates data reported through automated systems, and makes recommendations to streamline operations or create efficiencies in both IT and non-IT operations. Working on holidays, weekends, or evenings may be required for emergency situations. Occasional travel will be required-including travel within the park-for training, hardware installation, meetings, etc.
