Join our team as the Park-wide Plumber!
 
The Parkwide Plumber works out of the Mammoth Hot Springs (MHS) Trades Shop and performs or oversees all plumbing work at locations park-wide. In addition, shall assist plumbers at other locations with troubleshooting, repair and maintenance issues. The Park-wide Plumber will report directly to the Maintenance Operations Manager. To learn more about living, working, and exploring Yellowstone, check out our website.
 
Responsibilities
A Day in the Life of a Plumber in Yellowstone
 
The Parkwide Plumber is responsible for:
Providing plumbing skills necessary for maintaining park wide Xanterra facilities, to include new construction, repair and maintenance of existing water and sewer systems, regulators, pumps, plumbing, etc. and assist with opening/closing of park wide Xanterra facilities to insure proper procedures.
Responsible for the cyclic maintenance of facilities back flow prevention devices.
Accountable for materials used and ordering of items needed for job completion or inventory replacement per established company procedure.
Assists with the interview and selection processes, and provides the technical training and performance feedback for all location plumbers.
Responsible for insuring that all work performed is in compliance with applicable codes.
Responsible for accurately documenting "as constructed" record documents.
Assists with opening/closing at all locations to insure proper procedures are followed in regard to plumbing, fire sprinkler systems, and water and sewer systems.
Represent Xanterra, Yellowstone Engineering for systems installed or repaired by outside contractors’, engineers, and vendors to ensure compliance with job specifications, National Plumbing Code, and other related codes and regulations.
Provide technical assistance by reviewing and commenting on plans and projects to ensure compliance
Performs other non-related tasks when necessary.
Responsible for adherence to Xanterra Ecologix program.

Qualifications
Essential Skills and Knowledge
 
1. A valid Journeyman or Master Plumbers license.
2. Must be able to maintain and repair water lines, steam and condensate lines, drainage lines, steam condensate lines, steam traps, pressure regulators, recirculation pumps, condensate pumps,   plumbing rough-in and sets plumbing fixtures.
3. Must be familiar with disinfecting domestic systems as required.
4. Able to do soldering, acetylene welding and arc welding.
5. Able to read, understand and comply with all current company policies and procedures.
6. Must be able to review facility plans and assist Engineering-Maintenance with writing plumbing specifications for outside contract tasks.
7. Back flow certification required within two (2) years of employment.
8. Comply with all current related safety and health requirements.
9. Knowledge of all plumbing codes and fire sprinkler system requirements.
10. Possess a valid plumber's license and/or be certified within two (1) years of employment.
11. Must be at least 21 years old and possess a current, valid, driver’s license with a good driving record for the past 3 years.
 
 
Physical Requirements: 
This position may require the use of respiratory protection and will require compliance with applicable regulations.
Must be able to walk long distances over uneven terrain and climb stairs and ladders in all types of weather conditions.
Must be capable of lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Must possess physical stamina and condition to withstand heavy labor related work in an outside environment.
Standing, bending, kneeling, crawling, for extended periods of time is required.
 
AUTHORITIES:
Work park wide with location maintenance personnel, National Park Service personnel and outside contractors.
Serves as Xanterra park wide expert on all plumbing matters.
Promote Xanterra Company sustainability initiatives by preventing any negative impacts to the environment and incorporating best management practices.
