Clinical Research Assistant II

Position Description:
Purpose
Under general supervision, assist with digitizing a large repository of clinical data from the adult Epilepsy Surgery Program. Populate fields in electronic database.

Please note, this is a limited term position for 1 year. After 1 year this role will be eliminated.
Primary Functions
  • Organize patient charts and files
  • Code clinical Neuropsychological data. 
  • Requires reading clinical documents and testing reports, and assigning nominal numeric values to various clinical data; e.g. assign numeric values to brain regions where seizure foci exist
  • Cull extraneous material from patient records
  • Accession each case file
  • Enter encoded clinical data into an electronic (RedCap) database.
  • Dispose of paper records according to institutional standards, in HIPAA compliant fashion

Position Requirements:
Knowledge – Skills – Abilities
Knowledge of general neurosciences, neuropsychology, biology, clinical/medical coding, medical record documentation and terminology, and records management. Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management.
Specifications
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis
Minimum Required Education: High school
Minimum Required Experience: 1 year
Preferred Education: Psychology, and/or Biology (Anatomy and Physiology basics) Undergraduate Majors
Preferred Experience: Clinical research or medical coding
Field: Research
Certification: CITI training within 90 days of hire
