Position Summary:
Provides occupational health services to employees in a variety of working settings both on and off campus.
 
Provides occupational health nursing care at a contract employer’s site in the Galleria. Candidate will be responsible for the services on-site employees and the North American operations. Must be able to work professionally with a multi-disciplinary team to offer short term and long-term disability management and to coordinate return to work, accommodations, and other occupational health functions.  
 
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Organizes occupational health services for employees. 
2. Creates and implements programs for employees regarding occupational health to include; wellness, travel medicine, and safety.
3. Provides direct patient care to employees. This includes both routine and emergency nursing situations.
4. Provides educational services to employees in a one-on-one situation as well as through lectures.
5. Develops, implements, and enforces policies and procedures related to employee health issues
6. Provides case management services to employees.
7. Other duties as assigned.
 
Additional Information:
  • Works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to manage short term and long-term disability cases.
  • Coordinates with the employee, treating physician, corporate medical director, team leader, supervisor, others as necessary to achieve a successful return to work.  
  • Reviews medical documentation, maintains detailed records of case management activities, and facilitates referrals.
  • Facilitates patient education relating to medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
  • Maintains patient privacy and complies with occupational health best practices according to OSHA, AAOHN, ABOHN, and other applicable standards.
  • Supports corporate initiatives and activities of the health center.
  • Provides direct patient care as needed and responds to emergencies in the building.



Certification/Skills:
Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN or COHN-S) or eligible for certification

Minimum Education:
Bachelor degree in nursing.

Minimum Experience:
Three years of occupational health nurse experience.

Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
