Security Systems Administrator

The Space Dynamics Laboratory is seeking an experienced systems administrator to work with our security team. Responsibilities will include designing, installing, configuring, administering, securing, and tuning Windows server and desktop operating systems, applications, services, and components in an enterprise environment and in a timely and efficient manner. The selected candidate must be able to respond, identify, and remediate any issues related to server availability or performance that affect end users.
SDL, a University Affiliated Research Center, has been developing innovative technologies and solutions for cutting-edge DoD and intelligence programs for almost six decades. Our expertise is in space and airborne IR, VIS, UV, and RF sensors, small satellite technologies, test and calibration, cybersecurity, data visualization and assurance, and ground stations.
Required Qualifications:
·  BS degree or equivalent in computer science, BIS, engineering, or related computer field, or 5 years of work experience and certifications
·  Experience with Windows servers and an Active Directory environment
·  Experience with Exchange, VMWare ESXi, SQL, and Active Directory services
·  Working knowledge of IIS, DNS, WSUS, DHCP, workstation imaging, and general networking
·  Understanding of information systems security best practice and use of security tools
·  Strong organizational skills, quick learner, and demonstrated problem solving
·  Able to apply knowledge to complex practical situations
·  Work well independently and as part of a team
·  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
·  Effective communication and coordination with a wide range of internal and external customers
·  Willing to perform maintenance on systems outside of core business hours as required (Business often operates 24/7 and maintenance is performed during off daytime hours)
·  Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a US government security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
·  Understanding and experience with backup services, business continuity, replication, and security tools (Nessus, McAfee, and SCAP) provides a significant advantage
·  Understanding of Risk Management Framework
·  Understanding and experience with Solar Winds products such as Patch Manager and Log and Event Manager
·  Understanding of Linux Distributions and security best practices
·  Understanding of Cisco switches and network security best practices
·  Industry certifications
