Computer Science/Data Science Technical Intern

Position Summary
Develop and produce standard ad hoc analysis and risk reports on weather, economy, customer and sales trends. Assist Risk Analysts by designing and maintaining spreadsheets and databases to produce necessary analytical reports. Develop processes for data collection, governance, and storage for systematic department use. Candidate will learn and use data management and statistical tools and various analytical techniques. No utility experience is required, but a successful candidate has an interest in utilities and the new opportunities with renewables and electrification.
 
Minimum Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, computer science, economics, mathematics, business, statistics, or data science.
  • Pursuing graduate degree in economics, statistics, mathematics, business, computer science or data science. 
  • Possess basic data science and statistical skills.
  • Candidate should have an interest in learning and using data science, modeling and statistical software.
  • Good organizational, communication, and problem solving skills.
 
Preference given to candidates who are able to work 40 hours during the summer and 20 hours during the academic year at our downtown Denver location.
 
Preferred experience
  • Experience with Python, R, SAS, JMP, and/or other analytical programming languages
  • Proficient with Excel
  • Experience developing analytical models
