Sound Technician Intern

Description:
If you want to hands-on, guided experience utilizing cutting-edge audio, video, lighting, and surveillance systems, this is the opportunity for you! This position offers the most unique environment in which a student could spend their summer. This is a position that will assist the Audio-Video Engineer and Entertainment Department in producing multiple live performances each day. The student will be exposed to many different aspects of park operations and will have the opportunity to be part of the planning, preparation, and execution of a full park season. This position is involved in the operation of every area of our campground, hotel, amusement park, and water park. The student will have the opportunity to develop and extend communication and operational skills through extensive contact with the department head, staff, and performers.
 
Duration:
April 2020–August 2020. Optional weekends-only after Fall semester begins. Flexible dates are available.
 
Specific duties:
• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and professional audio equipment
• Operate audio and lighting mixers during live performances
• Prepare and maintain professional video display systems in accordance with large group presentations
• Maintain and operate surveillance systems, research incidents as necessary
• Provide support for all aspects of resort operations
• Develop rapport with department staff and entertainers
• Assist in executing large corporate functions, ranging from 75-2500 guests
• Assist in planning, preparing, and executing a one-day adults-only Oktoberfest event (optional)
 
Qualifications:
• Basic knowledge of commercial and/or professional audio systems
• Proficient utilization of proper soldering practices
• Comfort with and ability to use a variety of hand and power tools
• Ability to work independently, and as part of a team.
• Able to climb to and work at heights up to and in excess of 100ft
• Must be able to walk, stand, crawl, bend, kneel, squat, stoop and twist
• Ability to work in confined spaces when necessary
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment and handle stress
• Excellent listening skills
• Be on feet for long periods; walk several miles a day
• Effective verbal communication skills
• Able to work outside in all summer weather conditions
• Independent, resourceful worker
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Lift and carry up to 50lbs

Details:
• $9.50/hour
• Variable shifts: five to six days a week, as early as 8am or as late as 9pm
• 45-50 hours a week during park season, no time-and-a-half
• Schedule includes weekends and holidays
• Ability to work 50+ hours if desired
