Imagine Art Long-Term Care Housing VISTA, OneStar
Imagine Art is an art studio & creative incubator in Austin, Texas that is empowering artists with disabilities to be leaders in systems change to improve the lives of Texans with disabilities. We are demonstrating how to creatively leverage public and private resources to establish innovative, inclusive spaces that are driven by art and art-making. Imagine Art is partnering with VISTA for our next-level development to establish long-term care services for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and related conditions. Our vision explores the limits of artist live-work programming that creates opportunities for artists with and without disabilities to explore creative housing, employment design, and community access. The VISTA will support two Medicaid waiver programs, the Home and Community-Based Services (HCS) Waiver & Texas Home Living Waiver (TxHmL) programs available to individuals in Texas with intellectual/developmental disabilities. These programs allow Imagine Art to provide attendant care, transportation, speech therapy, employment support, social work, behavioral support, and nursing to individuals in their homes and communities. We are seeking VISTAs who are innovative visionaries with the skills and initiative to research the limits of existing state regulations and help us to design a state of the art program that will change the way Texas approaches long-term care.
