Staff Accountant

Purpose: The Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing a variety of accounting, data entry, and process development activities. This position will ensure that the company’s daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively. The ideal candidate will have a high level of Excel knowledge, the ability to learn several different tasks, maintain a high attention to detail while staying on task, possess the ability to communicate both written and verbally. The Staff Accountant will report to the Controller and be able to demonstrate proficiency and continuous improvement initially through the following deliverables:

Accounting Support:
  • Correct coding and entry for all Payables in QuickBooks (KB Custom Ag Services, FSL, Empire Truck Center)
  • Generate and deliver timely invoicing to customers for Empire Truck Center; send monthly customer statements and assist in collecting past due accounts
  • Assist Controller in developing Payables approval procedure
  • Review monthly vendor statements, request missing invoices ensuring all payables are entered meeting monthly deadlines
  • Assist Controller creating procedures for reducing finance charges
  • Verifying the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records
  • Assist in reviewing various company data collection Excel tools for accuracy (Job Costing, Expense Reporting, Account Reconciliation, etc)
  • Coordinate credit card transaction coding with Crew Leaders, correct entry into accounting software
  • Prepare payroll hours for Empire Truck Center
  • New Vendor/W-9 collection and management, including assisting Controller with generation of annual 1099 forms
  • Assist Controller in meeting month end closing deadlines
  • Additional accounting support duties as assigned
Asset Maintenance & Repair Data Entry:
  • Enter all inventory invoices into company asset database daily
  • Oversee monthly reconcile of asset data base and accounting systems entry and update database as needed with missing information
  • Prepare monthly Maintenance and Repair report in Excel for management
  • Provide insights for process improvement in collection and entry of M&R data
Fullscale Logistics Trip/Load Tracking:
  • Enter all BOL information into monthly tracking database (Excel)
  • Track and enter mileage driven monthly into IFTA tracking database
  • Maintain organization of company billing and BOL paperwork
  • Reconcile company dispatch information with BOL/Billing information on weekly basis ensuring all loads have been billed and accounted for
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel including use of formulas (Vlookup, if functions, etc.), pivot tables, power query, charts and graphs, macros, and ability to sort and analyze data sets to identify errors in data entry
  • Work experience as a staff accountant or similar accounting educational background
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to stay on task while managing multiple projects
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Applications, particularly Excel
  • Ability to problem solve quickly
  • Rapid 10-key touch ability
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Positive attitude that embraces vision, mission, and beliefs of the Company
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • BSc in Accounting, Finance, or relevant degree

Hours: M-F 8:00am-5:00pm, 1 Hour Lunch
