Job Description: Seeking a self‐motivated, multi‐tasking, organized student employee who possesses superior verbal and written communication skills. The individual will assist in daily tasks throughout the laboratory from data entry to sample handling, making reagents and glassware sterilization. We are a clinical/research laboratory directed Dr. Michael Lappin in the Center for Companion Animal Studies that processes many samples/day. May work up 10 hrs/week, must be available weekdays between 9am-4pm (hours are very flexible and potentially more (or less) as desirable and as your time permits).  Must be willing to work during fall and spring semester.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Assist with sample entry into electronic database
Assist with sample handling (animal serum, whole blood and other sample types)
Assist with study organization, under supervision including labeling of tubes, boxes and storage
Autoclave trash, glassware, reagents as needed
Prepare reagents under supervision
Student will on occasionally lift materials or equipment heavier than 40 pounds.
Maintain confidentiality, be punctual, and communicate changes in work schedule.
Prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines with successful completion of work.
Ability to work inclusively in a diverse setting
Available between the hours of 9a-4pm Monday-Friday for approximately 10 hours/week

Required Skills

A successful candidate will be currently enrolled as a Biomedical Sciences major (Pre-Vet, Pre-Med allowed as well) to support multiple projects currently ongoing in the Lappin Lab.
Work independently and efficiently CT

Preferred Skills
Proficient with MS Office DP
Previous laboratory experience would be preferred, but not required
