Law Clerk - Civil Division

General Duty Statement

The Saint Paul City Attorney's Office is accepting applications for a part-time (20 hours per week), entry-level law clerk position in its Civil Division.

Duties: Assist in providing legal services to the Public Housing Agency of the City of Saint Paul. Appear in housing court and other appropriate forums under the student practice rule. Legal research and writing, drafting memoranda, document preparation, and other general clerking duties are also expected.

Requirements
Must have a bachelor's degree, be enrolled in an accredited law school, and qualify under the Minnesota Supreme Court Student Practice Rules. Continued employment as a Law Clerk is contingent upon maintaining the enrollment and qualifications outlined above.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Law-clerk or related experience and academic achievement.
  • Completed at least one year of law school
  • Have strong research and writing skills
  • Applicants should have strong analytical and communication skills
  • Demonstrated potential for public service.
  • Proficiency in the use of Westlaw and/or other computer-assisted research programs
