Sanford Burnham Prebys is a preeminent, independent biomedical research institute dedicated to understanding human biology and disease, and advancing scientific discoveries to profoundly impact human health.
Lab Assistant I position is available in the Osterman Lab.
The Dr. Osterman’s laboratory research team focuses on fundamental and applied aspects of the key metabolic subsystems in a variety of species, from bacteria to human. This group uses a systems biology approach to reconstruct and explore metabolic and transcriptional regulatory networks. This approach combines comparative genomics and other bioinformatic techniques with biochemical and genetic experiments for pathway, gene and target discovery. Recent breakthroughs included prediction and characterization of novel transporters, transcriptional regulators and carbohydrate utilization pathways in a number of model bacterial systems.
The Lab Assistant I is an entry-level position and will participate in the performance of studies on experimental evolution and genomics of antibiotic resistance in Gram-negative bacterial pathogens. This is a part-time position with up to 20 hours per week work schedule.
