Intern - Business Analyst - Summer 2021

Job Summary
Lumen’s internship program is a 10 week, fast-paced and exciting opportunity to gain professional experience within your field of study and career interest. Interns within the Strategic Planning and Transformation organization will be part of an accelerated learning experience, to challenge skills learned in the classroom and develop new skills while working on active Lumen work projects. Vendor Management Analyst interns will have the potential to manage high volume software renewals and improve the database of critical software contract/licensing terms. The internship will take place in Broomfield, CO from 6/1/2021 - 8/13/2021.

Job Description
-   Verify roster of internal technical team representatives who will request renewals 
-   Kick-off the due diligence process for an assigned set of renewals (likely valued < $10k each) – request quotes, assess questionnaires for completeness 
-   Recommend “keep / cancel” decisions, based upon VMO best practices 
-   Create purchase requisitions for assigned renewals (in SAP/Ariba) 
-   Assess completeness of current Vendor Management database; prioritize gaps 
-   Research Lumen contract repositories for added contracts and order documents; store in central files
-   Partner with Vendor Management Office team members to implement a standard methodology for rating software agreement contract risks 
-   Analyze executed documents for critical terms and conditions; input terms into database 
-   Recommend approach to mitigate risks for upcoming transactions
 
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
-   Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university
-   Graduating between August 2021 – May 2023
-   In pursuit of bachelor’s or master’s in Management Information Systems or related business/IT degree program 
-   Intern is responsible for their travel to/from work location
-   Must be available to work 30 – 40 hours, during the specified 10-week timeframe 
-   US work authorization is required
-   Strong analytical abilities, including research, conceptual, quantitative skills
-   Effective communicator, including business writing and presentation skills
-   Proficiency in Microsoft Excel functions (e.g., IF, INDEX/MATCH, VLOOKUP, SUMIF, Pivot Tables) to manipulate data and perform computations
-   Proficiency in Microsoft Word (e.g., track changes) to document analysis, create job aids, and collaboratively edit content
Preferred Qualifications:
-   Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint (e.g., tables and charts) to explain findings and propose recommendations
-   Experience with Microsoft Teams to interact with team members across locations and time zones
-   Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher 
-   Strong and positive interpersonal talents
-   Ability to interact with people from all disciplines (e.g., financial analysts, technical analysts, contract analysts, business users, corporate procurement) and to adapt interpersonal style to other cultures
-   Motivated self-starter who works independently and manages multiple priority initiatives simultaneously, while keeping a customer-oriented mind set
