RF/Wireless Intern

Verily’s internship is a paid 13 week program for students in their graduating year of college, who are interested in working at the intersection of technology, data science and healthcare. This program is designed to expose students who have been historically underrepresented in this field to career opportunities and a pathway towards full-time employment within Verily. Students from all schools, and students who identify with a demographic that is minoritized within the technology, data science, and healthcare industries are encouraged to apply. This includes but is not limited to: Black/African-American, Latinx/Hispanic, Native American, students with disabilities, veterans, and non-binary people.
As an RF/Wireless Systems Intern, you will design and develop wireless system and sensing technologies for consumer electronics or medical devices. You are familiar with wireless channel modeling in terms of propagation and reflection, comfortable with real-time data acquisition, developing algorithms to process that data and implementing in real-time in an analysis environment such as Python or MATLAB. You will also work cross functionally with design teams to deliver systems for prototyping.
**Join us for a unique 13 week internship that will take place May 17th to August 13th 2021 OR June 14th to September 10th 2021**

Responsibilities

  • Model, analyze and experiment with characterization of wireless channel.
  • Develop algorithms for real-time data analysis, visualization and modeling of wireless channels.
  • Design wireless systems and characterization of antennas.
  • Experience in bringing up evaluation boards with custom firmware for data acquisition and processing.
  • Devise and execute real-world experimental demonstration and validation of developed technology.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a full-time Master's program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical field, with an anticipated graduation date on or before the end of 2022.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Wireless channel modeling, Antenna design and characterization and experience with EM software tools; experience scripting in Python/ Matlab.
  • Ability to complete a 3-month internship from May/June 2021 through August of 2021 in South San Francisco, California.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Previous technical internships or demonstrated work experience (i.e. research assistant, teaching assistant, personal projects outside the classroom, etc.) in Hardware, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
