Intern - Data Analyst - Summer 2021

Job Summary
Lumen’s internship program is a 10 week, fast-paced and exciting opportunity to gain professional experience within your field of study and career interest. Interns within the North American Operations organization will be part of an accelerated learning experience, to challenge skills learned in the classroom and develop new skills while working on active Lumen work projects. Data Analyst interns will have the potential to assist with business analytics for the field technician support and Consumer Delivery Support centers. The internship will take place in Monroe, LA or work from home from 6/1/2021 - 8/13/2021.

Job Description
-  Structure ambiguous problems 
-  Design analytics to evaluate large data sets 
-  Outline critical information 
-  Create tailored models and dashboards 
-  Perform ad-hoc analysis
-  Cross training across the team
 
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
-  Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university
-  Graduating between August 2021 – May 2023
-  In pursuit of bachelor’s or master’s in computer science or related degree program 
-  Intern is responsible for their travel to/from work location
-  Must be available to work 30 – 40 hours, during the specified 10-week timeframe 
-  Experience with statistical and analytical tools (e.g., Athena/Presto, R, SAS, Python, Microsoft, Power BI, Tableau, Excel, Access, general database querying - SQL / MYSQL / ORACLE)
-  Experience with Data visualization and presentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Power Point, Visio, SharePoint)
-  Understanding of advanced mathematics and statistical concepts

Preferred Qualifications:
-  Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher 
-  Strong sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
-  Ability to demonstrate ownership and accountability
-  Background in capacity planning or forecasting 
-  Strong written and verbal communication skills
-  Experience with business Intelligence or machine learning techniques and tools (e.g., Netezza, OBIEE, Watson Explorer) 
-  Experience with programming tools (e.g., XML, JavaScript, ETL frameworks)
