GENERAL SUMMARY:
MPOWER Health is seeking enthusiastic individuals eager to start their rewarding career as an IOM Technician. The Fellowship will include a compensation along with full coverage benefits. The fellowship will begin with a lecture-based education followed by shadowing a mentor neurophysiologist. Upon completion of the training, you will become a Certified Neurophysiologic Interoperative Monitoring Technician.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the clinical manager, the IOM Technician will perform a preoperative assessment of the patient, conducts an intraoperative sensory and motor tests using currently accepted electrophysiological techniques. Compiles real-time collection and interpretation of data and completes post-operative reports and billing forms. The purpose of this testing is to reduce the incidence of stroke, paresthesia, impotence, incontinence, and paralysis as a post-operative surgical outcome.
  • Explains test procedures so they are understandable to the patient and any family members that are present.
  • Measures and accurately applies recording electrodes in a timely
  • Calibrates, evaluates, and adjusts equipment, optimizing recording and stimulation parameters, to acquire salient data and information.
  • During surgery interacts with the surgical team and surgeons to provide interpretive data regarding the patient’s neurological status.
Requirements
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods in an operating room suite.
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials with little likelihood of harm if established health precautions are followed.
  • Work requires lifting and transporting 40-45lbs of monitoring equipment to each facility
  • Occasional/frequent travel by motor vehicle and/or air transportation to healthcare facilities located in both urban and rural areas.
  • Variable work schedules may change from week to week, depending on caseload, surgeon’s availability, creating situations that may require minimal notice to be available for a case.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree or higher (i.e. Masters, Ph.D., MD).
  • Must be open to relocating
