Technical Writer Intern

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

McKesson’s Intern program provides you with an opportunity to experience in the healthcare industry, first-hand. By applying your education to a real-life working environment, you will receive a solid foundation of experience as a McKesson intern in the Privileged Access Global Identity Services Team (GIS).
The Technical Writer will research, plan, organize/design, write, and edit audience-appropriate documentation and will be responsible for all aspects of the technical documentation delivered.

Intern Program Details:

  • Paid Internship
  • Full time / 10 weeks
  • Positions will reside in Irving, TX
  • No company sponsored housing, relocation, student visa or Green Card assistance available
  • This is a hands-on opportunity to gain practical experience in a dynamic and growing industry!

  • Training provided from vendors, subject matter experts, and computer-based training with certificate prep.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and update technical documentation to keep current with frequent software changes to ensure clarity and accuracy while adhering to established style and branding guidelines. Key documentation includes, but is not limited to, User Guides, Admin Guides, and Release Notes.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and members of cross-functional teams to translate specifications, designs and other artifacts into meaningful documentation for both external and internal customers.
  • Mine data from Jira or a similar bug/enhancement tracking tool and interpret the information for incorporation into technical documentation for delivery.
Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program for the duration of the internship to be eligible
  • Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program applicable to Technical Writing, Instructional Design, Information Systems, or a related discipline, and entering your Junior or Senior year.
  • Strong writing and communication skills to assist in the creation of clear, compelling product documentation, such as user guides, release notes, and on-line help.
Preferred Requirements:

  • 3.0 minimum GPA
  • Passion for technical writing with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation standardization.
  • Detailed knowledge of technical writing in a systems environment with proven ability to write in explanatory and procedural styles for varied audiences.
